Prayers for the Leadership Council
Below are the prayer responses (without names) on behalf of the new Leadership Council. Congrats to Manoj Manoharan, Brad Bohlander and Josh Emrich!
Their covenant given to Blue Sky Church was stated as follows:
We will shepherd the church of Blue Sky, by the grace of God and through the power of the Holy Spirit, as directed by the Word of God so that the Lord Jesus is exalted.
Trusting leadership is a thorny issue for our culture. We have too many stories of failed leadership –politicians, pastors, among others. Spiritual leaders will fail. Mistakes will be made, communication will be poor and opportunities to fully love will be missed. Therefore, how can we trust leadership?
The answer is that we need to put our trust in Jesus. Trust the one who will never fail his church. He is the Great Shepherd (1 Peter 5:4) who will never fail to provide and protect his flock. The story of the Bible is about the failure of man but even more, it is a story of God’s faithfulness in spite of men. He will see to it that his church accomplishes his intentions.
I wish I had been more clear about this. Our eyes and prayers for the new Lead Council need to be on the Great Shepherd. Here are the prayers from those at Blue Sky:
I will pray for the leadership council (Joshua 1:9) that you all will be strong and courageous. That you will not be discouraged, will not be tempted for the Lord your God is with you. Ephesians 6:10 that you all will be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, 6:13, that with the full armor of God you will stand your ground and after you have done everything, to stand firm in your faith. Thank you for giving yourselves to God in this type of service!
Ephesians 1:17-20, that you will lead Blue Sky in this. Over you and your families and your businesses, Psalm 91:1-8. I will commit to pray for you!
Abba, Protect and guide each of the men you have drawn to the leadership council. Make them bold to mold the values Blue Sky church is founded on. Bless them for their service.
Pray that God would guide them to humbly lead and serve the church.
I pray that you will have the strength to never give up, continue forward even when the horizon is hard to see.
My prayer is that you will find rest in God. That you will not feel overwhelmed by the commitment and responsibilities.
That they will follow the heart and compassion of God.
I pray that the community of Blue Sky will fully support you and that the Holy Spirit will guide you.
I pray you would depend on the Lord, that you would know agreement and knowledge of God’s will; that you would have the strength to do God’s will. I pray for God’s love, mercy and protection for you and your families.
I would like to pray that instead of strict religiosity, the council posses the lovingness and tenderness of Christ. I pray that God gives them such compassionate hearts that this is reflected in their speech and actions with the community of Blue Sky and the community of Loveland.
* I pray that these leaders will have the strength and confidence to lead your church Lord.

I am encouraged by your prayers for the council. May we accomplish what God has intended for us, as part of His story.
